ICONS è il progetto obituale di CHEAP: una call for posters dedicata a icone decedute, uno spazio dove sfogare la diffusa monossessione dei coccodrilli, il fanatismo rivolto ai defunti , il feticismo per i lutti di massa.

ICONS è un gioco: le uniche regole sono che l’icona che sceglieremo di volta in volta sia defunta e che l’immagine con cui la celebrerete sia inedita. Il tono con cui parteciperete a questo sfogatoio mortuario sta a voi: attraverso la raffigurazione dellə carə estintə, elaborate il lutto in pubblico con sarcasmo, venerazione, black humor, totale mancanza di realismo – è la morte della vostra icona, fatevi le condoglianze come ritenete più opportuno.

ICONS è un divertissement rivolto a chi si occupa di linguaggi visivi: non importa il medium ma solo il ritratto dell’icona che tradurrete su poster e che CHEAP affiggerà nelle strade di Bologna.

La seconda edizione di ICONS
ha la regia di David Lynch.
L’immaginario di Lynch permea i nostri sogni ma soprattutto i nostri incubi. Ci auguriamo che le galassie di personaggi di cui ha popolato i suoi racconti cinematografici vi accompagnino e vi ossessionino nella produzione del vostro personale cordoglio pubblico su poster.
Non ci sono altre indicazioni, non vi servono altre suggestioni – e no, i gufi non sono quello che sembrano.

ICONS is CHEAP‘s obituary project: a call for posters dedicated to dead icons, a space to unleash our widespread obsession with obituaries, fanaticism towards the dead, and fetishistic interest in mass mourning.

ICONS is a game: the only rules are that the icon we choose for each edition be deceased and that the image you use to celebrate him or her be previously unpublished. It is up to you what tone to take in this morgue-fueled venting: through a portrayal of your chosen dearly departed, go ahead and process your grief in public with sarcasm, veneration, black humor, or a total disregard for realism – this is the death of your icon, grieve however you see fit.

ICONS is a bit of fun directed at anyone who works with visual languages: any medium you want to use is fine, what matters is the portrait of the icon you want to translate into a poster format for CHEAP to hang on the streets of Bologna.

The second edition of ICONS
is directed by David Lynch.
Lynch’s imagery permeates our dreams — but above all, our nightmares. We hope that the galaxies of characters with which he has populated his cinematic stories will accompany and haunt you as you create your own personal public mourning on a poster.
There are no further instructions, you don’t need any more suggestions – and no, the owls are not what they seem.
